Community support

Support The Virelle Literary Society

Help us keep books, authors, readers and meaningful conversations connected.

The Virelle Literary Society was created to give readers a place to discover books, engage in thoughtful conversation and connect directly with authors.

It was also created with a belief that an author's ability to participate should not depend entirely on their financial circumstances.

That is why Virelle is moving toward a support-led model.

Rather than requiring authors to purchase a placement package, Virelle welcomes voluntary contributions from readers, supporters, authors and friends of the Society.

These contributions help us continue our literary programs, create opportunities for upcoming authors and support community initiatives beyond the reading room.

Where support goes

Three ways to make a difference

01 — Author Support Fund

Help an author reach new readers.

The Author Support Fund helps Virelle create opportunities for emerging, independent and upcoming authors whose books may benefit from meaningful reader engagement.

Support may help us create author-centered reading experiences, discussions, literary spotlights, author conversations and other opportunities that introduce books to readers who are interested in discovering new work.

Our goal is simple: to create more room for good books and the authors behind them.

02 — Events & Literary Programs

Help us keep the conversation going.

Virelle hosts literary programs designed to bring readers and authors together.

Support in this area helps us develop and sustain programs such as author conversations, reading experiences, literary showcases, workshops, reader discussions and other Society events.

Your contribution helps make it possible for us to continue creating spaces where books can be discussed thoughtfully and authors can meet readers directly.

Our programs include Book of the Month, Literary Center Stage, Author of the Month Residency, Literary Luminary Showcase, Behind the Book, Readers Ask the Author, Literary Spotlight and other Virelle literary programs.

03 — Orphanage Home Support

Extending the spirit of community beyond books.

The Virelle Literary Society believes that community should extend beyond the pages of the books we read.

As part of our ongoing community-support efforts, Virelle provides monthly assistance to organizations working to support children and families.

Our goal is to contribute in a meaningful and consistent way while continuing to grow our literary community.

Why This Matters

Our monthly support is one way Virelle puts its belief in community into practice.

Every contribution directed toward this area helps us continue supporting organizations that are working to improve the lives of children and families.

Together, we can make the literary community a community that gives.

Questions

Support Virelle FAQ

Is there still an author participation fee?
Authors do not need to purchase the previous monthly participation package simply to submit a book for consideration. Opportunities are subject to selection, programming and available resources.
Can authors contribute to Virelle?
Yes. Authors who wish to support the Society may make a voluntary contribution, but contributing does not determine whether a particular book is selected.
Can I choose what my contribution supports?
Yes. Where the option is available, supporters may direct their contribution toward the Author Support Fund, Events & Literary Programs or Orphanage Home Support.
Can I make a custom contribution?
Yes. Supporters may contribute an amount that is comfortable for them.
